600 more private hospitals will get covaxin at a price of Rs 1,200 per dose

The price of Bharat Biotech’s ‘Covaxin’ vaccine for state governments and private hospitals has been announced. Covaxin will be sold to state governments for Rs 600 per dose, and to private hospitals for Rs 1,200 per dose.

In addition, the vaccine will be sold for $15-30 per dose (roughly $1,124 to $1,499) for export.

The Serum Institute of India’s ‘Covishield’ costs less than half of what these prices for covaxin are (SII).

The federal government will charge four times as much for covaxin as the states do.

Covaxin will be provided to the government at a cost of Rs 150 per dose, according to a statement issued by Bharat Biotech on Saturday. State governments would have to pay four times as much as the federal government for covaxin as a result.

For developing vaccines for chikungunya, zika, cholera, and other diseases, covaxin recovery is essential, according to the company’s statement.

The company recently announced that it would sell Covishield to state governments for Rs 400 per dose and private hospitals for Rs 600 per dose, in comparison to Covaxin’s rival SII.

State governments would have to pay 1.5 times as much as Covishield does for covaxin, while private hospitals would pay 2 times as much.

For the central government, each dose of both vaccines costs Rs 150.
