BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — After announcing his retirement as a player earlier this month, Carlos Tévez was hired as the coach of top-tier Argentine team Rosario Central on Tuesday.

On social media, both Rosario Central and Tévez acknowledged the move. Tévez, 38, has a 12-month deal with the team, according to the club.

Tévez played in the Premier League for both Manchester clubs, United and City. Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham United, Juventus, and Shanghai Shenhua were among his many successful clubs.

With Boca in 2003, he won the Copa Libertadores, and with Man United in 2008, he won the Champions League. Tévez was a member of Argentina’s World Cup teams in 2006 and 2010.

With four points after four games, Rosario Central is presently ranked 22nd out of 28 clubs in the Argentinian championship.
