Death certificates for the deceased will be issued to their loved ones by the designated government official.
The Uttarakhand government has started a new practice of announcing the 136 people missing since the devastating flash floods of February 7 as “presumed dead” and has issued a notification to that effect.
Nearly 70 percent of the victims who had gone missing in the Chamoli disaster have been found, but another 35 remain missing.
There are three categories of missing person death certificates that will be issued. Individuals from other Uttarakhand districts who went missing following the disaster fall into the second category, which includes those from the same district. Individuals from all over the country who were present at the disaster site fall into a third category.
