Naomi Osaka’s new sports agency signs Nick Kyrgios as first client

may only take on a handful of clients. Osaka and he are on the lookout for athletes who can have an impact outside of their sport.

Yahoo Sports provides the content. The first agent to join Naomi Osaka’s sports agency Evolve is American tennis player Nick Kyrgios, known for his outlandish on-court behavior. Athlete Geoff Burke of USA TODAY Sports reports.

The 27-year-old Kyrgios is unquestionably a unique athlete who goes above and beyond in his sport. The six-time ATP Tour champion is just as famous for his on-court antics as he is for his tennis prowess. The umpire, the crowd, his opponent, or even himself have all been the subject of stories about him smashing his racket during a tournament. After an argument with the chair umpire at the Halle Open last week, he smashed his racket and yelled at a ball kid for not “running properly.”

It’s hard to overestimate Kyrgios’s tennis talent, and he’s only getting better. For the first time in 18 months, he has reached the semifinals of three tournaments in a row. In the last month, he’s gone from 65th to 45th in the rankings.

As soon as I heard about Stuart and Naomi’s new company, it made perfect sense for me to join,” Kyrgios said in a statement. Since the beginning of my career, I’ve made it a point to do things a little differently and bring my whole personality to the court. “I’m looking forward to working with Stuart and Naomi to build on what we’ve already accomplished and continue to advance the sport of tennis.”

Following his semi-final defeat by Hubert Hurkacz in Halle, Kyrgios will not be seeded at Wimbledon.
