Peta Murgatroyd is disclosing heartbreaking information about her miscarriage, and the story will resonate with a huge number of parents. In their account of their ordeal to PEOPLE, Murgatroyd and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy explained that it all began when Murgatroyd tested positive for COVID.

“I lacked stamina. I was unable to open the dishwasher. To bring Shai, [her kid], some toast, I couldn’t open the fridge, the dancer recounted. My breath began to suffer as a result of how awful it had gotten. The drama was intense. When Murgatroyd wound up in the hospital, Chmerkovskiy was in Ukraine acting as a judge on Dancing with the Stars. She called him when she got there and broke the terrible news. Their infant had died.

Sam Asghari, Britney Spears’ fiancé, provided an update following the loss of their unborn child.

The early phases of pregnancy and COVID were too much for Murgatroyd’s body to handle at the same time, she told PEOPLE. She had three miscarriages, one of which occurred in a Whole Foods restroom during the autumn of 2020. “I was crying as I sat in the restroom. Murgatroyd recalled, “I was crying so strongly and howling, one of those deep tears, I’m surprised nobody stepped in. Being alone on that toilet was something I’ll definitely remember for the rest of my life.

She desired to share her experience in order to relieve both herself and the enormous number of other ladies who have experienced similar things. Murgatroyd discussed her decision to share her experience after posting a sneak peek of the PEOPLE feature on her Instagram. She cited the feeling of “going to combust holding all this in” as the reason for this.

“I felt weirdly better the first time I let it out to a colleague, like a bit of shame had chipped away,” Murgatroyd said. “I discovered that I felt better the more people I told. I began to understand that it’s not something to be ashamed of. I hope that by sharing my journey with all of you it will be able to help someone else who is going through the same thing. So here I am, the bare me.

We are extremely appreciative and in awe that Murgatroyd shared a story so deeply personal and significant that will resonate with so many mothers who have experienced the same pain. And if you’re going through that right now, we put together a guide to dealing with pregnancy loss.

These additional well-known people’s miscarriages have been openly discussed.
